How Much Could I Buy A 75 Gallon All Glass Aquarium With A Hood For?
All I want is the 75 gallon all glass aquarium and lighted hood, no extras. I want these both to be new. Also I would like to know the price of a 75 gallon acrylic aquarium. What about plexi glass. How much for the aquarium and how much for the hood?
my 55 gallon is 4 feet in length, 12 inches wide, and 20 inch high
my 75 is a corner tank so i dont have the specs on that.
Anyway lets go back to question. All glass is cheaper than acrylic, Im not sure if you know the difference, but heres alitle bit about it.
Acryilic is light, but gets damaged more easily. It is more expensive as well. Where glass is heavier, and less easily scratched.
My hood for my 55 gallon was a 100 dollars by itself. I did buy my 55 gallon new, with a double stand for 88 dollars from my lfs.
So that is just a general price range. For a brand new 75 with a hood you can expect the ball park number of 170-200, the hood being the most expensive part.
IMHO, your best bet is to go compare prices at petco, petsmart, and any nearby local fish stores to see who has the best price.

Betta Chris is pretty right on in the measurements for the 55, I have a 75 and a 180. My 75 spans 48×20x22. Tank and stand are fairly reasonable. Like BettaChris pointed out in an answer yesterday, accurately, Petland Disounts here on the east coast has been typically selling a very basic 55 tank with plain metal stand for $99.00. IMO however, the biggest price in most new set ups are from the stand if you get an elegant wooden stand, that stand alone would be more then the tank and all the equipment to go with it. I got my 75 from Petland as well as my 180. Made by All Glass I can say I’ve never had any issues with leaking or overall durablility of those tanks.
Lighting can get a bit expensive, but if you stick to a 55 gallon tank, you can get a single 48 inch track instead of 2 24 inch tracks to keep the cost lower. Filtration for a 55, will depend, IMO, on what you plan on stocking long term. Heavier waste producing fish, I’d reccomend going with a good cannister filter. Less waste producing fish, I highly reccomend, though there are other brands that will function just as well, but go with an AquaClear 70 or 110.

a 75 by all glass is $175 the tank by itself without a stand or canopy, it does come with a lid though.
Call places so you don’t have to waste gas going from store to store. Wait for sales and coupons. Look for online deals, and I bet you could find some smaller non-chain stores that you could bargain with to get a fair price. Most importantly, figure out a price range that you are willing to pay and think is fair both for you and the store. These people have to make a living, and you’re asking for a relatively large aquarium with a lighted hood. Those lights are expensive to make because they have to be waterproof, so that alone is a reason for expense.
