This is an excellent price for this filter, and it arrived when promised.

I needed just the bio-wheel. Amazon had the whole filter with bio-wheel for 5 dollars more than the bio-wheel inself. I used the extra intake to extend the filter inyake since I have a tall (hexagon) tank. Works great.

This power filter rocks!!!!!!! It replaced 2 filters i was using that weren’t doing there job. I can finally show people my tank and not feel ashamed. The waters crystal clear and the fish are happy and healthy.

I have/had this filter. Worked very well. Had problems restarting it whenever it was turned off – mostly through power outages. Power went out yesterday in a windstorm. Filter would not restart. Had it maybe 8 months. Now I have to replace it.

this is the best “out-of-tank” filter that i have ever had. it clears my tank up quicker than my undergravel filter did and it airates my water. im happy the fish are happy. what else could i hope for?

This is the second one I have owned. The first was really loud because of a vibration. I think it was defective though. The second one is much quieter and does a great job. It keeps the nitrogen cycle in full swing even after removing almost all of the water.

I have had my Penguin 200 with the bio-wheel for about a month now. Before I bought it, I did some research and read the reviews about this particular model. I saw all the bad press people were giving it about it’s “restart problems” and “Bad Connections” etc. etc. and I have to say, the only problem with the P-200 are the short-bus riders who don’t have their water ALL THE WAY UP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OUTPUT AREA.
5*s*t*a*r*s, the bio-wheel is super, it isn’t noisy (you know it’s on, but it doesn’t stop you from reading a book), and my fish have personally told me that they love it. My fish talk to me.

I’ve had this product for over 9 months. I’ve never had 1 single restart problem. AS long as both intakes are underwater it runs even when water level is down 20% for water changes. This has been my only mechanical filter on a salt water tank & i’ve had no issues. I highly recomend it.

I have this stuck to a 29 gallon tank. Have 2 plecos and an oscar.
The noise is the only thing that bothers me but it’s kinda soothing. As a previous reviewer said just fill it up to the waterfall lip.
Cleaning is pretty easy, with that oscar I have to start doing it more often.
For the people talking about power surges ..is your tank hooked up to a surge protector? That might help.
gave it 3 stars – a little noisy(not a big deal) but also the bio wheel does not spin all the time.

I have been using the Marineland 200 Bio-wheel Filter on my 30 gallon tank for less than a year. It is supposed to be for up to a 50 gallon tank but it is barely powerful enough for my 30 gallon. A couple of months ago I started having restart problems with the filter. If power is disrupted to the tank, the filter is very hard to restart. The motor sounds like it is running, but it will not pull water into the filter. I doubt it will survive another power disruption. I am very disappointed that it did not even last for a year.
